Description
This scheme aims to award 100,000 scholarships to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs.1,50,000/- per annum from all sources. The scheme would provide reservation to different categories of students as per the State / UT norms.

An Awardee is eligible for the scholarship provided (1)he/she takes up studies in approved courses; (2)maintains good conduct and continues studies as a regular student in government/ local body/ adided school; (iii)takes up studies on whole time basis; &(iv)does not take up a job.
How to Avail
By clearing Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) conducted at state level.

A total financial outlay for Saakshar Bharat during the last 3 years of XI Plan period is Rs. 6502.70 crores, out of which the Central share will be Rs. 4993.02 crore. The share of funding between Central and State Government is in the ratio of 75:25 and in the case of North-Eastern States including Sikkim in the ratio of 90:10, respectively.

How to Avail

Funding Pattern
Information and Communication Technology [ICT] in School scheme, the Union Government would provide 75% of financial assistance to State/UTs. The balance 25% of funds would be contributed by the State Governments/UTs.
Description
This scheme aims to provide opportunities to secondary stage students to develop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and also for ICT aided learning process. It enables widespread availability of access devices, connectivity to the Internet and promotion of ICT literacy.

Eligibility criteria
Each State Government/ Union Territory would convert one school per district into a smart school subject to availability of funds. A grant of not more than Rs.25 lakhs would be given per smart school. This limit may be reviewed in the future, if needed. A sum of Rs.2.5 lakhs shall be provided as recurring costs which includes maintenance, consumable, internet useage and monitoring costs.
How to Avail
The financial assistance is given to States and other institutions on the basis of the approvals accorded by Project Monitoring and Evaluation Group (PM&EG) headed by Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy.

Description
The Government of India has launched a scheme to provide full interest subsidy during the period of moratorium, i.e., Course Period plus one year or six months after getting job, whichever is earlier, on loans taken by students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections from scheduled banks under the Educational Loan scheme of the Indian Banks Association, for pursuing any of the approved courses of studies in technical and professional streams, from recognised institutions in India.

The Scheme could be adopted by all scheduled Banks and would be applicable only for studies in recognized Technical/Profession Courses (after Class-XII) in India.
